Notes from the Sunny South
Well, it wasn’t so sunny in the early part of September when we thought that we would be subject to hurricane winds and rains from Dorian. Fortunately for us it veered to the northeast and, unfortunately and tragically, hit the Bahamas. Fr. Joe’s sister and brother-in-law, who live on the east coast took advantage of our Franciscan hospitality and stayed with us until the storm passed their place of residence.
Our Lady Queen of Martyrs hosted the September Fraternal Gathering at a local Italian restaurant and used the occasion to bid farewell to our brother Stan Holland who has accepted a new assignment. We wished him well and promised to pray for him.
Slowly but surely our Northern parishioners are beginning their return, and we look forward to their presence in our church. They also will bring much needed financial aid to our ministries.
