The Shrines and Sunken Gardens at Mount Assisi are sacred grounds. Home of the Franciscan Friars, Third Order Regular, the shrines are open to the public from sunrise to sunset seven days a week as a place to pray, visit, and enjoy natural beauty.

Shrine Renovations:

The Shrine welcomes thousands of pilgrims each year. As stewards of this sacred space, the Franciscan Friars, T.O.R., are committed to ensuring the Shrine remains a beautiful, peaceful space that can be enjoyed for generations to come. To meet that commitment, we have:

• Installed new heavy-duty teak wood benches in several locations that are ideally suited for individual reflection or praying the Rosary. These new benches are comfortable and made to withstand many years of outdoor exposure. Some will be permanently affixed to concrete slabs, and others will be left unattached so they can be rearranged for Fatima Devotions and other occasions.

• Replacement of our Stations of the Cross, which line the walkway, to be more durable, and inspiring.

• A Special Opportunity for You. The final step in restoring and upgrading the Shrine and its Gardens is to replace the worn, broken, and uneven paving stones that allow visitors to journey through the shrine in safety and comfort.

This project offers friends like you a chance to have a direct stake in the beautification of the shrine. For a suggested offering of $2,500 you can purchase an engraved paving stone as an expression of your faith or to honor someone special to you.
